Created a punchy redeemable token identity with enough character to stand alone in feeds. The brief was to create a visual that could be used for a non-fungible token for a new feature being developed for the OpenSea platform. The visual needed to be something that resembled something from early 16-bit video games, with a modern twist. Creative Direction: Jung Heo

Early 3D explorations, using a voxel-style or just flames with simple sprite animations for the eyes.

Rather than the voxel-style, I went with a slightly more faceted look and feel with simple blinking to give the burning ember a little bit of life. Created in Blender with a toon style shading on the flames. Variations of hue for a rarity mechanic. Originally, the team only wanted the ember on it's own, but understanding how the speculative market is and to encourage participation with the community, I provided a couple colors that could be tuned to different rarities by the development team.

For the redeemable token, the team wanted to have an evolution between initial acquisition of the token and when it was burned, creating 'Burnie'.

Destination page composition explorations for desktop & mobile viewport. Additionally, the final place that burnie resides on-chain within the OpenSea marketplace.
